Tel Aviv Flights And Sights

Flying To Tel Aviv With American Airlines

Tel Aviv is not Jerusalem -- and you'll discover that soon enough. Visit Tel Aviv to find yourself surrounded by soaring glass skyscrapers, symbols of the nation's business and high-tech pursuits. Dine around the world at the city's restaurants, where chefs meld Asian and Latin American spices with Middle Eastern ingredients. Pick up world class art and fashion on Tel Aviv's Gordon Street. Or just take it easy, relaxing on some of the Mediterranean's most beautiful beaches.

Things to Do

Tel Aviv's starkly modern Beit Hatfutzot/Museum of the Jewish People showcases the global Jewish experience, told through 2,500 years of historical art and artifacts, Jewish world music and photographs. Expect a purely historical experience at Eretz Israel Museum, including an archaeological site with a reconstructed pre-Israelite house. Take time for an evening stroll on Tel Aviv's stunning Mediterranean beaches, within reach of downtown. Gordon Beach is a favorite, within an easy walk of galleries and dining hotspots.

Shopping

Serious art lovers enhance their collections at galleries on Tel Aviv's Gordon Street. Browse eye-catching displays of bold, contemporary paintings, funky art glass and abstract metal sculptures. Israel's fashionistas spend their money like mad on Dizengoff Street, stuffing their shopping bags with high-end linen and silk goods, fashionable shoes and creative handbags. You'll find more stylish, expensive international brands and Israeli designers on Kikar Ha Medina square.

Nightlife and Entertainment

Tel Aviv throbs with activity after hours. Israelis catch a cool Mediterranean breeze, do some people watching and crowd the outdoor cafes for an after-hours coffee or, if it's hot, a coffee ice cream soda. Dizengoff Street and Herbert Samuel Esplanade are most popular, running near the city's golden beaches. High-energy nightlife rules in artistic, historic Jaffa. Clubs quickly come and go out of favor here, serving up trendy cocktails and pumping out dance music until someplace new lures the crowds.

Restaurants and Dining

As Israel's business and high-tech capital, cosmopolitan Tel Aviv offers inventive dining and cuisines from around the world. Allenby Street is home to Israel's best restaurants, with contemporary Mediterranean dishes, Asian-influenced vegetarian meals and the freshest seafood. Romantic diners head to Jaffa for quiet dinners overlooking sunlit Mediterranean beaches. Sample the best of Tel Aviv's Middle Eastern fare, with large plates of meze and steaming hot pita bread at restaurants along Etzel Street.

More Things To Do In Tel Aviv

American Airlines can help you find flights to Tel Aviv and plan a trip of discovery to this dynamic destination. Considered the economic and cultural center of Israel, it's often referred to as "the city that never stops,", so you'll find that the list of interesting things to do in Tel Aviv is almost endless.

Thanks to its location along the Mediterranean coast, one of the most relaxing activities in Tel Aviv is to spend a day on the beach. There are many from which to choose, all located on the city's west side. Gordon Beach is quite popular, with a restaurant and refreshments located nearby.

The beaches are a fun way to spend a day, but many who come here are looking for things to do in Tel Aviv that focus on its rich history and concentration of significant sites. In the Old City of Jaffa, which was built during the Ottoman Empire and located adjacent to Tel Aviv, you'll find a tourist center and charming artists' quarter along with many historically significant places. One of the most visited, the Church of Saint Peter, dates to the 17th century. The exterior is red brick, which makes it stand out in a sea of stone structures, and the interior features vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows and walls covered in marble. Within Tel Aviv, historical sites you won't want to miss include Ben Gurion House (a museum that was the former home of Israel's first Defense Minister and Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion), Dizengoff House (also known as Independence Hall, it's the site of the signing of Israel's Declaration of Independence), Bialik House (a museum that was once home of national poet Haim Nachman Bialik) and Reuven House (also known as Rubin Museum, it's the former home of artist Reuven Rubin and features his paintings and studio). You'll also want to visit the Old Cemetery, or Trumpeldor Cemetery, where many of Tel Aviv's founding fathers and historical figures are buried.

One might not consider the city as a bastion of fascinating architecture, but in fact a portion of the city known as The White City has the largest concentration of Bauhaus-style buildings in the world, earning an UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. Visiting here is one of our favorite activities in Tel Aviv. It reaches all the way to the Yarkon River, and the adjacent Tel Aviv port features restaurants and even nightclubs, making it a fun place to end your tour.

If this cosmopolitan Israeli city is on your list of places to explore, American Airlines can help you fly to Tel Aviv so you can experience it all. Browse our flights and start planning your trip today.
